On Friday, April 11, 2025, the Argentine Government announced the end of the currency control, marking an economic milestone after six years of restrictions.
Main economic announcements
• Fin del cepo cambiario: Desde el lunes 14 de abril, las personas podrán comprar dólares sin límite mensual y sin restricciones previas relacionadas con subsidios o empleo público. 
• End of currency controls: Starting Monday, April 14, individuals will be able to buy dollars without a monthly limit and without previous restrictions related to subsidies or public employment.
• Agreement with the IMF: An agreement was signed for USD 20 billion, with an initial disbursement of USD 12 billion, aimed at strengthening the Central Bank's reserves.
Changes in payments abroad
• Imports: Companies will be able to pay for goods imports at the time of customs entry. Small and medium-sized businesses (MiPyMEs) will be able to do so from the dispatch at the port of origin.
• Services: Payments for services abroad can be made at the time of service provision, eliminating the prior waiting period.
• Capital goods: A 30% advance will be allowed, 50% at dispatch, and the remaining 20% at customs entry.
• Related companies: Payments for services between related companies can be made 90 days after the service is provided, reducing the previous 180-day period.
These changes aim to normalize the foreign exchange market, facilitate foreign trade, and attract investments, as part of a new agreement with the IMF and an economic strategy focused on openness and stability.
